Many well-known and selective colleges and universities are moving to continue a “test-optional” admission standard. The University of Notre Dame is just one example!
There is, however, both an upsideĀ and a downside to such practices. The upside is that students who are not tutored and practiced in taking such standardized tests are given the chance to prove their acceptability by other avenues and on other parts of the application.
The downside is that such colleges will receive more applications as a result of this change in admission practices. In the end, many such colleges and universities will accept fewer students, from the application pool.
Juniors: Give this some thought as you begin to fashion your dream list and your best fit list of colleges and universities.
